Advocacy is another key strategy that is used by the organisation to ensure that the government implements laws and policies that protect and promote the rights of women in Zimbabwe. WAG has made some contributions in policies such as the National Gender Policy (2013-2017), The Domestic Violence Act (2007) and the Sexual Offences section of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act (2004).
In its GBV programmes, WAG partners with various stakeholders in the multi-sectorial protocol on management of SGBVsuch as Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, the Victim Friendly Unit (VFU) Police, Judiciary Services Commission, Ministry of Health and Child Care, Parliamentarians, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), traditional and religious Leaders.
WAG is currently working with SAT, Katswe sistahood, Right Here Right Now consortium partners to advocate for the review of the Termination of Pregnancy Act of 1977. The Act has a number of limitations and administrative gaps that needs to be reviewed to serve the needs and fulfil sexual and reproductive health rights for women and girls.
