WAG in partnership with Global Fund for Women is responding to the SRHR and GBV needs of women and girls in the aftermath of Cyclone Idaiin Chimanimani District. The cyclonethat hit the country in March 2019 came in as a major challenge to women and girls in Chimanimani and Chipinge districts. More than 300 lives were lost during this disaster and some went missing.
The situation led the nation into a humanitarian crisis that required efforts from various sectors. Women’s Action is currently implementing a three-year project in Chimanimani aimed at addressing the SRHR needs of women that includes ensuring access to Reproductive, Maternal, Neo-natal and Child health (RMNCH) care for women; GBV psychosocial support and referrals and awareness raising at community level through outreach activities with the Ministry of Health and promoting health and nutrition for pregnant women in post emergency through distribution of nutrition food packs.
